PSMC offers educational scholarships to PSMC pastors and lay leaders for the purpose of pastoral training and continuing education for Christian service.
Educational scholarships are available for members of PSMC churches. The scholarships are made possible by the funds transferred to PSMC by PSMC Mennonite Men, who suspended their activities as of June 2014. Mennonite Men have been giving scholarships toward furthering education & training for Mennonite Church related ministries for more than 25 years. For information on church-wide Mennonite Men programs, visit www.mennonitemen.org. Scholarships are matching scholarships with PSMC matching the amount given by the applicant’s congregation. Scholarship categories and maximum amounts awarded are as follows:
Students completing a theological degree at an approved institution – $500 (semester)
Persons fulfilling educational requirements for ordination – $300
Continuing education for pastors – $150 (calendar year)
Applications for assistance can be made for Anabaptist Colleges, Seminaries & Universities as well as the continuing education classes offered by PSMC or other continuing education opportunities in consultation with the Conference Minister. See the PSMC Ministerial Policy for information on approved institutions, educational requirements for ordination and continuing education requirements. Eligibility of students attending other seminaries will be determined on a case by case basis by the Pastoral Leadership Committee and the Conference Minister. Any other requests for modification of this policy would also be submitted to the Pastoral Leadership Committee and the Conference Minister for consideration on a case by case basis. Theological degree applicants need a supporting letter from a home church pastor, a professor or instructor, and a person in PSMC leadership. Ordination candidates and pastors need a supporting letter from a leader in their congregation.
